SWETT CONSULTING SOLUTIONS

Meet Theodore

Evaluator, mediator, and lifelong student of how people work, and of the organizations they build.

Studio portrait of Dr. Theodore Swett

The short version

Dr. Theodore Swett founded Swett Consulting Solutions to help nonprofits, schools, and organizations design systems that are effective, equitable, and sustainable. His work sits where program development, evaluation, and conflict resolution meet.

He has spent two decades across education, nonprofit leadership, higher education, and organizational consulting, including more than a decade in retail and customer-facing roles and work with Miami Dade College and Penn State. He has been a volunteer since age thirteen, when he started supporting students with learning disabilities. That early work still shapes how he shows up today.

How he works

  • Participant voice first. Formally trained in evaluation research, he designs process evaluations that pair program data with interviews, focus groups, and participatory methods like photovoice, looking at how programs are actually experienced, not just whether they hit their numbers.
  • Funder-fluent. He has managed and supported grant-funded initiatives across 21st Century Community Learning Centers, United Way, The Children’s Trust, and the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Education, and Agriculture.
  • Systems-minded. From strategic planning to staff development to conflict resolution, he aligns program design, implementation, and evaluation with what funders expect and communities need.

Credentials

  • PhD in Global Leadership and Change
  • Florida Supreme Court Certified County Mediator; MA in Conflict Resolution and Negotiation
  • Master of Arts in Teaching Languages (Spanish); MS in Exercise Science and Health Promotion; MS in Homeland Security Administration
  • Florida certified teacher (FLDOE, valid through June 2032): English 6-12, Social Science 6-12, French K-12, Spanish K-12, and Elementary Education K-6
  • National Administrator’s Credential (NICCM)
  • Director’s Credential (Florida Department of Children and Families)

Research

  • “Formative Life Experiences and Leadership Identity”, doctoral dissertation (Tiffin University): a phenomenological study of how ten nonprofit leaders’ formative life experiences shape the way they lead.
  • “Centering Youth Experience”, Dr. Swett’s research at Oregon State University: a student-centered process evaluation of positive youth development in an after-school program in Liberty City, Miami: photovoice, free-listing, interviews, and reflection activities; 18 of 22 enrolled students took part.

Selected client work

  • Belafonte TACOLCY Center, consulting work before he later joined the staff, and separately, a youth program evaluation.
  • Pagan Global, website and digital support for a girls’ group program.

Theodore is also the founder of ANSANBL, which supports people starting and developing nonprofits and small businesses, a separate venture from Swett Consulting Solutions.

Different settings, same curiosity about people. It is the thread behind the work, and behind the podcast.

Beyond the work

The bio is the career. This is the person: the same curiosity, off the clock. Museum steps, city streets, a visit inside CERN, and one famous mouse.
